lyrics

I sat down under the shade of a tree: a cedar;
I didn't know, they're all the same to me.
I lay down by the banks of a river to plead her
Not to swim too deep.

I came out just to show her the garden, the fountain;
I didn't know she'd seen it all before.
I came dome from the foot of a hill, a mountain:
The highest you ever saw.

I let go, cleansed myself in the freedom she'd granted;
I've since learnt the false promise of a kiss,
But I returned, fresh-faced, fooling myself; enchanted
By the witchcraft in her lips.

I flew far; ran the Maronite road, and dishonest,
Vowed to myself I'd finally closed that door;
Still ajar. I set up camp in this wood, this forest:
My home forever more.
